Mayo News football podcast – club championship series

The Mayo News football podcast is back with a new series next week as we launch our club championship football show. Club championship football takes centre stage in the county over the next few weeks. After a very quiet July and August on the online airwaves, we have no doubt that the return of the club championship will be a […]

Club championship action resumes this weekend

Photo: @MayoGAA Pope or no Pope, the action in the Senior and Intermediate club championships resumes this weekend. With the tap unexpectedly turned off for us at inter-county level before the end of June, I think it’s no exaggeration to claim that the club championships within the county this year are the most eagerly awaited in ages. Here’s a quick run-down […]

The plan for the next while

Over a week has now passed since our early exit from this year’s championship. In that time the world has moved on and so too has the championship. The line-up for the inaugural Super 8 All-Ireland quarter-final group series of matches has been completed and, alone amongst this year’s Division One counties, we’re not in there. How and why this […]

Ladies League semi-final details plus other stuff

Image: @Mayo_LGFA It’s still only mid-April so there’s a bit to go yet until this rather strange lacuna in the GAA’s calendar is dealt with. I need to do this summary now as my own sporting endeavours at the weekend involve a rather challenging spin on two wheels in Clare […]

Club championship draws on tonight

Photo: @MayoGAA The draws for this year’s Senior, Intermediate and Junior club championships are being held tonight at MacHale Park. If you can’t make it to Castlebar, though, but would still like to follow proceedings the draws are being streamed live by Mayo GAA TV. Full details on the streaming service for tonight’s championship draws are here. This is a […]

Dream ends for Lahardane and Tooreen

Sadly, it wasn’t to be for either Lahardane MacHales or Tooreen in their respective All-Ireland semi-final contests this afternoon. Lahardane lost narrowly to Multyfarnham of Westmeath in their All-Ireland JFC semi-final at Hyde Park while Tooreen were well beaten by Kilkenny’s Ballyragget in their All-Ireland IHC semi-final at Cusack Park in Ennis. Photo: @LahardaneGAA Lahardane were well in their match right to […]
