Host Rob Murphy and I were on the terrace together at Austin Stack Park and it’s from there that most of this week’s podcast was recorded. We do our in-match chat (where, as you can imagine, opinions being uttered about how the game might go altered sharply as the evening wore on) and then Seán Rice and Billy Joe Padden parse all the key issues about the match as the place was emptying out afterwards.
There’s also some discussion with Ann-Marie Kenny of Club ’51 about the phenomenon that is the Mayo travelling support, while Ger Flanagan catches up with Stephen Rochford and Stephen Coen to get their post-match thoughts on the action.
Special mention for Rob – after driving me back to the capital following the match (where I sat in the passenger seat happily bashing out the match report on the laptop and beaming it to the world via 4G), the last I saw of him was when I showed him to his quarters for the night here at ours at about 1.30AM. He was long gone – to Cardiff to commentate on the Connacht rugby game for Galway Bay FM – before I surfaced yesterday morning and then he had the podcast edited and up on Soundcloud shortly after midnight last night. Take a bow, Rob!
