Sunday’s county final live on TG4

As is now normal practice, TG4 will be broadcasting Sunday’s county final live from MacHale Park. The historic Moclair Cup decider between Castlebar Mitchels and Breaffy throws in at 3.30pm and TV4’s GAA Beo coverage of the event gets underway at 3pm. Midwest will, of course, also be doing radio coverage of the match that afternoon. The day’s curtain raiser […]

James cranks it up

Photo: Irish Examiner It wasn’t planned that way, of course, but the team’s media event on Sunday evening was perfectly timed for a few juicy quotes from our camp, in light of our drawing Donegal the previous evening and Jimmy McGuinness’s ludicrous outburst following his team’s qualifier win over Laois a few hours before then. Our man didn’t disappoint, either, […]

First thoughts on next Sunday’s game

Midweek already with the warm glow of sending the Kerry lads back home crying to their mammies without a second half score to show for their troubles now receding and the prospect of the significant challenge that Tyrone will represent this coming weekend starting to come into view. It’s another one I’ll be sitting out, I’m afraid – this one […]

Brollixgate row rumbles on

The debate about Joe Brolly’s pathetically one-sided “punditry” in the lead-up to last year’s All-Ireland final continues this morning, with responses to James Horan’s charges of bias and partiality against the Derry dunce coming from refs’ chief Pat McEnaney and from RTÉ. Neither of these stack up in my view. McEnaney – as you’d expect – has rowed in, in […]

Cillian scoops second YFOTY award

Tonight was All-Star award night up here at the National Convention Centre and with Keith, Ger, Lee and Alan collecting their gongs it was always going to be a good night for the county. It was made even better, though, with the announcement that Cillian O’Connor was, for the second year running, named the Young Footballer of the Year. Ed […]

Junior final live on Mid West tomorrow

If, like me, you’re unable to make the trip to Ennis tomorrow for the All-Ireland junior final against Kerry – where our lads will be aiming to land the county’s sixth national title at this level and the first since 1997 – you’ll be glad to know that Mid West have confirmed  they’ll be doing live match commentary from Cusack […]
