I had thought we’d be first out the gate with team details for this fixture but life is full of surprises – we haven’t named our pick yet but Tyrone announced their team last night. Here it is:
Tyrone (NFL Division One v Mayo, 3/2/2019): Niall Morgan (Éadan na dTorc); Michael McKernan (Oileán a’Ghuail), Ronan McNamee (Achadh Uí Aráin), Hugh Pat McGeary (Cabhán a’Chaortainn); Tiernan McCann (Coill an Chlochair), Rory Brennan (Trí Leac), Peter Harte (Aireagal Chiaráin); Brian Kennedy (Doire Lochain), Declan McClure (Cluain Eo); Matthew Donnelly (Trí Leac), Niall Sludden (An Droim Mhór), Kieran McGeary (Cabhán a’Chaortainn); Darren McCurry (Éadan na dTorc), Cathal McShane (Eoghan Ruadh Uí Néill), Lee Brennan (Trí Leac).
That team contains two changes from the side that started against Kerry the last day. In come Kieran McGeary and Lee Brennan (a player who ran riot against us in the corresponding fixture last year) to replace Liam Rafferty and DD Mulgrew.
Nine of the team named to play for Tyrone on Sunday also lined out from the start in last September’s All-Ireland final, with a further two introduced off the bench that day. Full details on Tyrone’s match-day 26 for Sunday are here.
By the way, our match on Sunday at Healy Park forms part of a double-header at the venue that afternoon. Tyrone play Louth beforehand in hurling and that NHL Division 3A clash gets underway at 12.30pm.
Tickets for Sunday’s match are still available at pre-purchase prices in participating Centra and SuperValu outlets – details here – so if you want to avail of these lower prices then you need to get your stakes on. Or maybe your skis, given the prevailing weather.
