Club Championship fixture details confirmed

The draws for the SFC and IFC quarter-finals as well as the JFC semi-finals were made the other evening and fixture details for these ties, as well as related relegation play-offs, have since been confirmed. All of these ties are down for decision the weekend after next, i.e. 21st and 22nd of September.

Here’s what’s in store that weekend in the Senior Championship.

In the Intermediate Championship here are the fixtures set to be determined.

As you may have noticed, there are two MacHale Park double-headers among those list of fixtures. On the Saturday this features Ballaghaderreen v Davitts and Breaffy v Ballina Stephenites, while on Sunday it’s Burrishoole v Crossmolina followed by Castlebar Mitchels v Knockmore. While these are attractive pairings for punters to get to those of you who can’t will no doubt be interested to know that Mayo GAA TV will be streaming both – details here.

Onto the Junior Championship, where the fixtures are as follows.

If you can’t hold out until next weekend – and the little matter that’s set to be decided at Croke Park on Saturday evening doesn’t do it for you – don’t forget that this Sunday in Tooreen the hurlers of Ballyhaunis and Castlebar Mitchels will contest the county SHC semi-final. Throw-in at Adrian Freeman Memorial Park is 1pm on Sunday.

That’s it for now. Back in the afternoon with a new episode of the Mayo News football podcast. We haven’t gone away, you know.

  1. Some counties do a weekend pass for people attending a few games. Would be good if Mayo could do one for next weekend.

  2. I see its just been announced we are playing the TG4 Underdogs in McHale the end of October. Don’t see how its much benefit to us really unless Horan wants to use it as a trial game for new players.

  3. Some interesting ties
I expect ballintubber to come through
    Castlebar to go through
Breaffy to go through and ballagh to go through in senior
    In intermediate
    Kiltimagh
    Crossmolina
    Louisburgh ardnaree

Blondie11 id start a very very expiremental team against the underdogs
    1-Paddy o malley 2-david drake 3 rory brickendon 4-oisin mullin 5-Sharoize akram 6-cathal horan 7- donovan cosgrove 8-Evan o brien 9-Tom parsons 10-gary boylan 11-Ryan o donoghue 12-James durcan 13-Brian reape 14-conor diskin 15-Liam irwin

  4. any sign of a decent fullback coming through in this years Championship , whats the form of fringe players like , especially R O Donaghue and C Hanley , living outside County so dont get to any Club games.

  5. Culmore Ryan O Donoghue is going very well for Belmullet and Gary Boylan as well two forwards that would definitely be an addition to the Mayo panel at least. It will be interesting to see how they fare against Ballintubber we’ll know a lot more about them after that game

  6. Ryan O Donoghue had a very quiet game last weekend against Ballagh, Boylan looked good in spells but is a bit of a showman – he will have to learn to
work a lot harder if he has any chance of making it at County level.
Cuba Callaghan was the star forward on show on the day – scored a great goal & has tremendous speed & demonstrated a high level of skill. I thought Cian Hanley played well before getting a black card & looks a lot more comfortable on the ball this year

  7. Didn’t think Knockmore v Castlebar be in McHale park as neutral venue. Do Mitchell’s get the money from shop and programmes to club games like they do county games? Must get on to my Mitchell’s mates to jibe them as been the Dubs of Mayo. 🙂
Be tough test for us against Mitchell’s. Very young team with about 7 or 8 starters 21 or under including 2 current minors.
Breaffy Ballina an interesting game and reckon if Ballina keep the heads may Nick it.
Fancy Ballaghadereen and Tubber in other games.

  8. Castlebar v Knockmore should be in Ballina. A double header with the Ballintubber Belmullet game would have a brilliant atmosphere. I’d fancy Mitchels, Tubber and Ballagh to win their games fairly comfortably. Ballina have a really good team this year but will probably come up short against Breaffy. Moy Davitts look nailed on for relegation.
