With this extended break from live sporting action showing no sign of coming to an end any time soon, it’s an ongoing challenge to fill the sports pages. But every challenge also represents an opportunity and it’s in this vein that the Mayo News has risen to the occasion with its ‘Top 100 Mayo club footballers’ series.
In this episode of the Mayo News football podcast we focus on the paper’s club footballers series. Mayo News sports editor Mike Finnerty is in the presenter’s chair for this episode where he’s ably assisted by Mayo News colleagues Edwin McGreal and Ger Flanagan. Together they chat about how this initiative came about and they cast their eyes over some of the names who feature on the Top 100 list.
One of the illustrious players claiming a prominent place on the list is Keith Higgins. The four-time All-Star was named this week as the top Intermediate club player and Rob Murphy caught up with the Ballyhaunis clubman to get his reaction to the latest accolade to come his way.
