I was out on the bike this morning, on a route that kept me, just about, within a 5km radius of home. Not long into the spin – the winter air cool and the sky clear, into which a low sun was rising – I passed not far from Croke Park. Immediately the thought sprang into my mind: we’ve a team in action there today in a national decider.
Today’s Rackard Cup final at HQ takes place – as all games this winter have done – behind closed doors. But it’s still a national title and a rare chance for the county’s hurlers to showcase their talents at Croke Park.
Derek Walsh’s team have been in storming form in this competition over the last few weeks and we’re favourites to complete the job today. Donegal will be no pushovers, though, as they’re also unbeaten in this campaign and we can expect them to push our lads all the way.
The match is being streamed live today by TG4 via their YouTube channel – the link for that is here. There are various ways you can feed that stream to your TV, depnding on whether or not you’ve got a smart TV or a device like Apple TV, Chromecast or whatever. A direct HDMI connection from a laptop to the TV would work too if that option is open to you.
You can, of course, also watch it directly on YouTube on your PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone. I’m also going to run the live feed from YouTube here on the site, on the off-chance that this might be of use to some of you. That’ll be up in a bit, ahead of the 1.30pm throw-in at Croke Park.
Best of luck to the county’s hurlers today. Here’s hoping we’ll be celebrating a second Rackard Cup success this decade a bit later on this afternoon.
